NUSC TRYOUTS FOR NUSC ADVANCED & SELECT SOCCER TEAMS |

The Fall 2008-Spring 2009 Advanced & Select Team tryouts will take place at Lake Taylor High School from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from May 19-22. All players (current & new) are to register online prior to the tryouts (see instructions below). All U-9 to U-12 players should also attend BOTH tryout sessions scheduled. Registration check-in will take place each evening between 5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
The following tryout schedule will be conducted:
U-14 through U-19 Boys' & Girls' Advanced Teams and all Select* Team Tryouts Monday, May 19.

U-9 & U-10 Boys' & Girls' Advanced Teams Tuesday, May 20 & Thursday, May 22.
U-11 & U-12 Boys' & Girls' Advanced Teams Wednesday, May 21 & Thursday, May 22.
There is no fee to tryout for an advanced or select team. Each player is to wear athletic wear, shin guards, and is ask NOT to wear any NUSC or any other soccer club apparel or uniform during the tryout. Players are to bring their ball, filled water bottle, and new players to the advanced or select program are to bring proof of birthdate. Players will tryout in their appropriate age group according to their birthdate unless otherwise arranged and approved by the NUSC Technical Director. ALL PLAYERS (current or new advanced/select players) wishing to tryout for an advanced or a select team MUST register online prior to the tryouts at this website. PLAYER EVALUATIONS AT ADVANCED & SELECT SOCCER TRYOUTS |

Is this the first time your child is attending the advanced or select soccer tryouts? How will your child be evaluated? All players will be evaluated by the Head Coach of the team for which he or she is trying out, and independent Coach/Evaluator not affiliated with that age group, and in some cases the Technical Director.
Each player will be evaluated on a 5-point scale (5 being the top scale and 1 being the lowest) in the following four qualities: Technique, Insight, Athleticism, and Understanding. The definitions of each are as follows:
Technique/Skills: Ball Control, 1v1, Passing, Shooting, Tackling, Goalkeeping, Heading, etc.
Insight: Positioning, Movement without the ball, Awareness, Sense of Purpose, Vision, etc.
Athleticism: Speed, Agility, Quickness, Balance, Strength, Power
Understanding: Ability to play the game
Much of these evaluations will be done in a group setting though small-sided games. Players should be consistently playing and showing their interest in the game. Players who stand or wait for the ball may not get a proper evaluation of their abilities. The best thing to do is encourage your child to play their best and always focus on the activity or game. NUSC SPRING FLING 2008 |

On behalf of the NUSC Board of Directors, Officers, and Staff, the club would like to thank all of the coaches, parents, and players for their participation in the 2008 Spring Fling. There was fun competition and many smiles from children of all ages. The club looks forward to hosting the 2008 Fall Fling next season. The club would also like to extend congratulations to the following teams which placed in their respective divisions this Saturday!
